Depth of Field

                                                                 Deep Depth of Field
                                                              Shallow Depth of Field

Depth of field describes the aperture lens, which focuses on the background. Deep depth of field includes everything in the background, whereas shallow depth emphasizes the foreground. Aperture is defined by light rays, which cause the blurring. On my camera the aperture is locked by holding down where you want to focus, which locks it.

These are the two photos I used to show depth of field
This is shallow depth of field. The background is less visible, and the colors on the fish stand out more. The lack of light also causes the color to pop more because its easier to focus on the fish. This comes in handy when taking future close up pictures.

The deep depth of field in this image causes the color to pop less, but the background is more visible. There is more light in this picture, which causes the camera to focus more on that, which is useful when taking future further away shots.
