Portraiture

Portraiture is the art of taking portraits, it is supposed to represent who a person is.

Posed photography is self explanatory. It'a a portrait of someone in a posed, or staged position. Posed photography helps set up a story of the subject.

Candid Photography taking a picture of someone in the moment, when they are unaware they are being photographed. This captures how someone acts, and the nature of the subject







This portrait is staged, the stare into the camera gives that away. The man looks like he is wearing a jacket, and is sitting down. The background is out of focus, which emphasizes that he is the subject of the portrait. It's shallow depth. It appears to be natural light, but its hard to tell because the image is black and white. The shallow depth caused the blurry background, which emphasizes the lines, especially on the face and in the hair.
